Steve Waldron A.C.A is CFO/CIO of Grange Hotels, London's leading independent hotel group, providing luxury London hotel accommodation, hospitality and events services in 17 hotels with over 2,000 bedrooms. Under way is a new build 263 room aparthotel overlooking the Tower of London and Tower Bridge. Grange was voted best UK small hotel group in the 2013 Business Travel Awards and has numerous certifications from Tripadvisor and other accredited organisations.
Grange, unusually for the UK, purchases it own sites, plans, designs and builds the hotels, also doing all refurbishments. This aspect, together with over 20 years at the company at a senior level both in construction and operations, has given Steve an almost unrivalled breadth and depth of perspective of all aspects of technology in the hospitality industry. He has become a “go to” person on many issues for instance assisting Samsung develop hospitality Smart TV, doing the world’s first installation and assisting in the design of the Mitel hospitality phone product, to name but two of his credits. His early design of a fully converged IP backbone for hotels has become the industry standard in Europe and beyond.
Steve also has represented the UK Hotel industry on PCI DSS matters with Vendorcom Europe for many years. In August he presented a technical paper to the UK regulator Ofcom on issues relating to 3G and 4G reception for the industry and the way forward for improved coverage and performance. With such a pool of experience Steve has regularly spoken at IHTF, Hotel Technology Europe, Hotelympia and ACTE events and was recently on on the HTNG IT leadership panel at the conference in Budapest October 2014
In 2015 joined the IHTF 2016 Advisory Board and is a judge for the 2015 European Hospitality Awards.
