Mustafa Ergen is founder and CEO at MiSONE, Chief Advisor at Turk Telekom. Previously, Mustafa co-founded WiChorus Inc., a Silicon Valley start-up focusing on 4G LTE & WiMAX mobile broadband infrastructure and core gateways. The company was founded in 2005 and acquired in 2009 by Tellabs for $200 million following four up-rounds with tier-1 venture backing by Redpoint, Accel, Mayfield, and Pinnacle Ventures. He was a member of National Semiconductor Labs and was named a National Semiconductor Fellow at the University of California-Berkeley, where he co-founded the Distributed Sensing Lab, focusing on statistical sensor intelligence and vehicular communication.
Mustafa completed four programs from UC Berkeley: PhD and MS degrees in electrical engineering, MA degree from international studies and MOT program from HAAS Business School. He received his BS in electrical engineering as valedictorian from Orta Doğu Technical University. And, recently awarded Doçent title from Turkish Higher Education Council.
Doç. Dr. Ergen has more than 35 patent applications, many publications and authored three books: “Mobile Broadband – Including WiMAX and LTE” and “Multi-Carrier Digital Communications: Theory and Applications of OFDM.” published from Springer. Plus, “Girişimci Kapital: Silikon Vadisi Tarihi ve Startup Ekonomisi” about entrepreneurial capital is published in 2015 by Koç University Publishing.
He served on the board of trustees of TOBB University of Economics and Technology. He serves for Turk Telekom in 5G Public Private Association, Networld 2020 European Technology Platform and ETSI Network Function Virtualization Group. He is advisor at Berkeley Program on Entrepreneurship and Development. He is co-host of award-winning Girişimcilik Endeksi (Entrepreneurial Index) TV program in Bloomberg HT and also adjunct associate professor at Koç University and founder of its entrepreneurship class and incubation center.
