Anthony Magee received a first-class honours degree in Electrical and Electronic Systems Engineering from Leeds Metropolitan University (UK) in 1998, for which he was sponsored by the UK government.
In 2000 he joined ADVA Optical Networking becoming involved in the design of Ethernet equipment and subsequently system design disciplines, with emphasis on packet technologies. Since 2008, Anthony has worked within Advanced Technologies as Principal Engineer responsible for synchronization and packet encapsulation techniques for Carrier Ethernet.
Anthony has collaborated with standards bodies (IEEE and ITU) and research projects including UK Technology Strategy Board and European collaboration projects PIANO+ IMPACT (Optical Access and WDM-PON with NFV) and currently he is leading the demonstration activities for the EU FP7 project COMBO which considers Fixed Mobile Convergence.
Publications include IEEE Communications Magazine October 2010, ‘Synchronization in Next-Generation Mobile Backhaul Networks’, ECOC 2012, ‘Investigation of Wavelength Control Methods for Next Generation Passive Optical Access Networks’.
Speaking experience includes MPLS & Carrier Ethernet World Congress (Paris) 2010 and 2013, ITSF (International Telecommunications Synchronization Forum) 2010, and 2011, WSTS 2011, ISPCS 2011, Carrier Ethernet World Congress Amsterdam 2011 and UK Network Operators Forum 2013.
